Livestock farming plays a fundamental role in our commitment to circular regenerative agriculture. Across our 27,000 hectares of eucalyptus forests, we have implemented a strategy to reduce herbicide use in grass control: cattle are introduced into areas with high grass infestation. This approach involves temporarily concentrating cattle in these areas, allowing them to graze quickly before being relocated elsewhere. This method has proven effective in significantly reducing herbicide use while promoting animal weight gain.
Grupo Alterosa maintains a herd of more than 4,000 head of cattle which, in the finishing phase, are confined for fattening. The manure generated in confinement is directed to a composting process, where it is transformed into organomineral fertilizer, known for its quality and agronomic benefits to the soil. This fertilizer is applied to our grain production areas, and we plan to expand its use to our forestry areas, promoting a sustainable, integrated cycle across our operations.
