In the mid-1970s, as part of its strategy to diversify operations and add value, Alterosa Foundry was established. Today, it produces raw cast parts in gray, ductile, and vermicular (compacted graphite) cast iron, serving the machinery, metalworking, and sanitation industries.
Alterosa Foundry is located in the municipality of Pará de Minas, in the central-west region of the state of Minas Gerais, within the same industrial complex as Siderúrgica Alterosa.
Our current production capacity is 250 metric tons per month, with castings weighing up to 2.5 metric tons. The foundry operates one 600 kW induction furnace equipped with two 2-mt crucibles, a Pep-set sand mixer with a production capacity of 6 metric tons of sand per hour, a shot blasting machine, and high-frequency finishing equipment for deburring, ensuring quality and productivity.
To ensure the metallurgical quality of its castings, the foundry conducts chemical analysis using an optical emission spectrometer, as well as metallographic, hardness, and mechanical testing, all performed by an INMETRO-accredited laboratory.
